Half and Half Color/B&W
I duplicated my layer first
then i converted the bottom layer called background into black and white
I then selected half of the image
then i pressed backspace or you could use edit>cut
The lasso tool
This is the lasso tool with this you can draw a rough area around your image to select it. it is a very quick way of selecting something from an image
with this i selected the sign from my image and clicked on the move tool which brought up the transform options i then moved it to the floor of my image i could also do further refinements with the eraser tool then change the blending mode to overlay to make this actually look like its part of the floorThe Quick mask tool
This is the quick mask tool think of it like a layer of clingfilm over your image with this you can change your image without effecting the base image itself because you can just remove the mask
After creating a mask for my image i selected the eraser toolif you look at the white image on the right you can see the mask if you alt click on that white box it shows you the mask
as you can see this is my mask it is very rough and in some places it is much sharper this is shown by the darker areas. areas that have very soft erasing are a light grey
Copying and pasting
for this i simply duplicated my layerthis box came up at the bottom it says document
i changed the document to the one i wanted to copy it too and selected ok
i went across to this document and it has been transferred over.
